This Skirt Being Sold By Zara is In Fact a Dhoti And The Desis Are Speaking Up
Zara a global clothing brand is in quite a pickle with the desi community world wide and here’s why…
The brand has recently come out with a skirt print and design which is very familiar and worn by desis called a dhoti/lungi
And not only this, Zara is charging $89.90 for it (around 10,000 rp). Zara describes this skirt as a “Flowing skirt with draped detail in the front. Front slit detail at the hem.”

This is not the first time Zara has grabbed eyeballs for something not so pleasant. Just last year, shoppers buying from the stores in Istanbul found unusual notes in their clothes from workers claiming they have not been paid for making the merchandise. The Spanish brand also came under fire for selling a cut-off denim skirt featuring a patch bearing a resemblance to Pepe the Frog – a character that has widely come to be associated with hate groups.
What do our readers think about this? Would you buy a lungi for Rs 10,000?
