Jason Derulo's Performance Fails to Impress At PSL
On Thursday, the 2018 Pakistan Super League (PSL) kicked off with a flaring opening ceremony at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
PSL always brings major star power for its audience. This time, Hareem Farooq and Bilal Ashraf took center stage at the opening ceremony. The event opened with Sachal Orchestra’s beautiful rendition of the national anthem, which was followed up by electric performances by Ali Zafar, the legendary Abida Parveen and Shehzad Roy.
R&B star Jason Derulo also made an appearance and sang a mix of few of his songs. His performance was followed by loud cheers from the crowd.
The social media, however, was not as pleased.
Here’s what went on after the event
A phenomenal performance by the great #AbidaParveen for the #PSL2018 opening. A great representation of Pakistan. Jason Derulo and his dancers made no sense in an event that is purely Pakistani.

How could they make us listen to Jason Derulo after Abida Parveen? #PSL2018

An international performer in the artiste line-up has been a regular practice of PSL since PSL 1. Sean Paul and Shaggy have performed previously and bringing a different artist to the stage this time was thought to bring back the hype as well as add prestige to the event.
Was it money well spent on PSL’s part though?
