The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has imposed a fine of Rs.500,000 on Nikelodeon, also known as Nick over an episode of cartoon series Winx Club.
According to PEMRA, the notice that was issued on April 28, 2017 after the airing of the episode. The fine was then imposed on an episode of cartoon series where, PEMRA claims, “A cartoon character is indecently dressed.”

The channel was found to be in violation of Clauses 3(1)(a), 3 (1) (e), 12 and 17 of Electronic Media Code of Conduct, 2015 and has been directed to employ an in-house committee to monitor all content before being aired.
PEMRA has warned Nikelodeon to be vigilant while airing future episodes of the series.

For those readers who do not know, Winx Club is an Italian animated series that studios in America bought and dubbed. It has been around for over a decade and still is a popular show for many children.
Additionally, this is not the first time action has been taken against a cartoon. Earlier on, a show by the name, “Emperor has no clothes on” was banned by the regulatory body after receiving numerous complaints from concerned parents.
